Sailfish

Istiophorus platyperus

Dramatic jumps, fast blazing runs make the Sailfish one of the greatest light tackle opponents in the oceans. They are found though out the world’s tropical and subtropical waters.

Live bait is a very popular method to draw strikes. Goggle-eyes, mullet and ballyhoo are the popular baits to use. Trolling baits are Ballyhoo and Split-tail Mullet with plastic skirts that add color and actions. Trolling speeds are around 4 to 5 knots.

Slow trolling live baits works very well and the use of kite is one of the most popular live baiting presentations.
